I have recently finished writing The Jewish Community of Baltimore, which Arcadia is publishing later this year. Keep an eye on this page for more information and links to retail sites.

The Jewish Community of Baltimore is my first book (it’s now on Amazon!), and I want to thank you all for taking a moment to check it out. Researching this book has been an exciting adventure for me. I’ve treasured searching through photographs of Baltimore through the years, which has allowed me to tour places lost but rarely forgotten, such as some of the early synagogues, the markets and delis along Lombard Street, and the grand department stores on Howard Street. Unfortunately, I didn’t have room for everything, so while the book is not encyclopedic, it should give a flavor of Baltimore’s Jewish history. Writing this book has made feel closer to the community and more effective at my job at the Jewish Museum of Maryland. I’m proud to share that a portion of the proceeds will go to support the JMM! I hope you enjoy this tour down memory lane as much as I have. Thank you for stopping by!

I have an actual publication date! July 21, 2008. It’s hard to believe, but it’s all really happening. Can’t wait to see it come out. July is so far away and so soon.

I have received such a warm response from everyone regarding the book. I can’t believe how excited the people I’ve spoken to are. It’s nice to see others getting as pepped for this book as I am.

I researched primarily at The Jewish Museum of Maryland and the Enoch Pratt Free Library as well as at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. Thank goodness for online databases that allowed me to travel other museums’ archives without having to physically leave. I love actually touching the old photographs but getting to places like the American Jewish Historical Society just weren’t possible.
